Films » The Silence of the Lambs
I’d been meaning to watch this for a while as part of my ongoing quest to reduce the list of iconic films I’ve somehow avoided my entire life. Then I saw it was showing at the local cinema, so why not see it on the big screen?
I actually wasn’t sure I’d like it. It always seems to be described as a psychological thriller, about Clarice and Lecter playing mind games. I half imagined the whole film was just going to be interview scenes. Thankfully I was wrong. What a fantastic film it is. Anthony Hopkins feels like he is Hannibal, and Jody Foster provides a great counterpoint to him. The plot moves along at just the right speed, gradually ratcheting up the tension without it becoming boredom.
